At Kremin, we were looking for ways to both extend the lifetime of our toolings, AND find ways to run our CNC machines at higher feeds and speeds. Engineer Manager, Trevor Perry found a good solution in the HAAS Automatic Air Gun. See it in action for yourself!

“We recently incorporated Auto Air Guns into our HAAS CNC mills. Let me show you those Auto Air Guns, how it changed our processes. and what we gained from them.
Certain tool paths and cutting tools lend themselves to higher feeds and speeds, and longer tool life when cutting material dry. We have some parts that we can utilize this [dry cut] process, but we needed to find a way to keep the chips clear from the end mill–protecting it. So I guess it was time for me to spend some money!
“There you go. There you go. Thank you, sir. There you go. There you go. There you go.”
I went right straight to HAAS and bought their Plug and Play Auto Air Gun. And yes. that’s a lot of freaking money for an Air Gun.
The Air Gun is programmable with an extendable barrel to clear chips out of the way. This was a simple add-in to the machine and we saw immediate results. We started without changing anything in our process, and saw a 50% increase in tool life. Have you see how expensive these end mills are? That’s a big deal!
Now that chips are staying out of the way, it’s time to see how much faster we can push our milling passes. That’s gonna be in part two! Subscribe and check out our other Quick Tips.”
