The more time you spend looking for things, the less time you spend doing things. In today’s quick tip, we’re going to organize some stuff. Like any manufacturing facility, we are no strangers to messes. The reality is, anytime you have a mess, you create an opportunity to waste time. Any waste of time is just time not spent making money, making parts, or doing the things you really want or need to do.

One area we identified for better organization was our old college guide bushing holder. It had become too small for the amount of equipment we had. So, we bought a new cabinet and have been slowly filling each drawer with different items. This particular drawer is for our standard size guide bushings. We bought this cabinet with room to grow, so you’ll notice it’s not completely full yet. The idea is that as we expand, we can add more items without having to buy a whole new cabinet. This way, we can add more items to different cabinets as we go, staying organized for a long period of time.

It may seem like a small detail, but if every time you look for a guide bushing you’re spending one to two minutes searching, it adds up. Over the course of 10, 20, or 30 people doing this 10, 20, or 30 times a month, this results in significant waste. This small step can save you not only time and frustration but also a bit of money. I’ve shown you our dirty laundry, and I know you have some too. For more subtle hints on how to clean up your workspace, like and subscribe.
